Frequently asked questions

Before you get involved.

  • How much does AfriDienst membership cost?

The annual fee is set each year by the general assembly. It is intentionally modest to remain accessible. It is used in full for operating costs not covered by earmarked donations.
  • How do volunteer assignments work?

Assignments are tailored to your availability, your skills and our current needs. They range from short-term actions (event logistics) to multi-week field missions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes, AfriDienst e.V. is recognized as a public-benefit organization (gemeinnützig) in Germany. Donors residing in Germany receive a tax receipt enabling tax deductions. Donors outside Germany should contact their local tax authority.
  • Can I get involved remotely from Africa?

Absolutely. Some of our volunteers are based on the continent and contribute to local coordination, communications or field-partner relations. Please indicate your situation in the form so we can adapt your assignment.
  • How does AfriDienst use the funds collected?

We publish an annual transparency report detailing the allocation of funds by cause and by project. You will find the reports in the Transparency section as soon as they have been uploaded by the board.
